The William Allen White Children’s Book Award, established and directed by Emporia State University, was founded in 1952 to honor the memory of one of the state’s most distinguished citizens by encouraging the boys and girls of Kansas to read and enjoy good books.
Students in grades 3-5 have the opportunity to participate in voting for the 2019-2020 William Allen White Book Award.
This year there are 10 books nominated for the WAW Award for grades 3-5. Students must read two (2) of the nominated books by April 5th to be able to vote for the book they think should receive the WAW Award.
Participation in the William Allen White activities is optional but encouraged.
